Comprehensive Eye Examinations

An eye examination is a diagnostic process that is typically performed in under one hour using state-of-the-art technology. Eye diseases develop silently, only showing symptoms once damage has already occurred. Annual eye exams are the best line of defense against unnecessary vision loss. As we age, our eyes naturally change. Some changes – such as the development of cataracts – can be treated effectively, while others (like the onset of glaucoma) can’t be reversed after the fact.

Early detection of developing eye diseases is necessary for long lasting eye health. Early detection of eye problems can reduce the risk of further harm and allow for a broader choice of treatment options.

The eye is said to be the 'windows to your health.' An eye exam not only provides insight into the health of the eye, but it provides valuable information on the overall health of the body. This is because the back of the eye is the only part of the human body where blood vessels can be seen. Therefore, diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and others can be diagnosed and monitored through an eye examination. Findings from an eye examination are relayed to the primary care doctor or other health care specialists for appropriate treatment.
